On June 19th, 1953 Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, having been convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage, were strapped into the electric chair at Sing Sing and electrocuted. Their execution was and still is controversial: to some the Rosenberg’s were traitors and to others martyrs. Were they guilty of spying for the Soviet Union? Did they deserve the death penalty?
