We are looking forward to being together, in person, at Temple Anshe Amunim. Based on our phone survey, most of our congregants have been vaccinated. This is great news for our community, and just in time for the return of Rabbi Liz from family leave.

In formulating plans for reopening, we have met with public health experts from the Health Department of the City of Pittsfield, consulted data from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and reviewed guidelines from other temples.  Our recommendations also take into consideration the latest scientific evidence and the emergence of the Delta variant.

The Reopening Task Force has determined that the temple building can safely reopen for services, meetings, educational activities, and other events. Because of our commitment to one another’s safety, and our congregation’s love of singing, we have created guidelines to maximize both comfort and joy, including wearing masks in the building.

Our first on site/in-person Shabbat services with Rabbi Liz will take place on Friday, August 6th. We hope to see many of you there. Attached to this email you will find the guidelines we developed, along with a Covenant that reminds us that our actions and decision are guided by foundational Jewish values.

lTemple Anshe Amunim Reopening Guidelines

To ensure that our reopening takes into account the health, safety, and comfort of all of our members, and is in keeping with the Jewish values that sustain us, the Reopening Task Force has developed the following guidelines:

  1. People with symptoms of COVID-19 or who have been in contact with COVID-19 within the previous two weeks should not enter the building.
  2. We require all who enter the building to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth.
  3. Do not crowd in the lobby. Be aware that others might not yet be comfortable getting too near, hugging or shaking hands.  Ask before you do, and please let people know if you are not.
  4. Respecting your privacy, we will not inquire about your vaccination status
  5. We require that everyone sign in for contact tracing.
  6. Everyone must remain masked during services.
  7. There will be a socially distant seating area for those who are unvaccinated or need or wish to be socially distanced for their health and safety. Parents of unvaccinated children are asked to keep them socially distanced and masked.
  8.   Food will not be served at the temple until further notice.
  9.   Remember to avoid crowding when leaving.

The Task Force will closely monitor public health recommendations and adjust our guidelines accordingly.
